| I’m looking for some information on an antique piece of fire apparatus. It appears to be a horse drawn unit, with wood wheels, but has a 2 cylinder gas engine on the front that runs a Hale direct drive pump. The inlet to the pump is plumbed with 2 1/2 “ water ways that runs to the rear of the unit and looks to be set-up to draft. The ouitlet side of the pump has 2 ½ value on each side of the pump and there are holders for a hard succion on both side of the apparatus. The only markings that I can find are H.F.P Co A1 on the intake castings. The carriage is about 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. If you can provide any information on the origin of this piece or point be to a picture, etc. I’d be very appreciative. | Hi, I have an antique firehouse door that I am interested in finding more information on. It is really large, metal plated with thick wood on the inside, it has two very large black cast iron wheels that look like the go on a track for
hardware mounts at the top of the door. If anyone is interested or knows anything about these doors, please let me know at (213) 489-0574 or jamienpitts@aol.com Thank you.
Additional Information Submitted: The door is 51" wide and 7ft tall, with the hardware adding another 21" in length x 5" wide. I found this fire door in downtown Los Angeles, CA. I was planning on putting it up in my loft on a track/ rail system. However, I am moving now and cannot take it with me, although I wish I could, I love this huge weird door! 7010t 09.01.07 |

| I'm a Firefighter In the UK and was trying to track down a vintage cab forward right hand drive Fire Engine if possible. I'm sure I have seen a few, I know that propbably 99.99% of all Engines made are left hand drive but I can swear I saw some picture ages ago of either a American LaFrance or a Seagrave cab forward pumper age from 1947-1970?. I'm not sure if these were specials maybe for use by the Military on some far away shore for example but I could swear I've seen a Right Hooker somewhere.
Any information, facts and pictures would be a great help. Thanks, Chris

| I’m looking for information on an older W & K Wall Mounted hinged hose reel. I believe this to be Wirt & Knox and if I am reading it right is model part #00. I haven’t been able to find any info as far as age and its exact use. Its made from steel or iron round bar and the wall brackets are in a scrolled and ornate style, not just a simple 90 degree bend. | Hello Antique Truck/Engine Collectors. I belong to Engine Co. # 3 in Warwick N.Y. I am having problem getting
head off our 29 Reo. We had a connecting rod bearing go sour on us while in a memorial gathering. so we decided to pull head check valves, put in new rings, and bearings. But as i said ,head is giving me a problem. Its the original engine . I've soaked the 21 head bolts for 2 weeks with penatrateing oil. I'm assuming that the head bolts must be rusted and giving me the problem. I believe in 1976 we changed the gasket, Any advice you could help me with, I will be greatfull for. | My name is Rick Philpot and I am a deputy chief with the Beverly Ma. fire dept. I recently acquired a bell that is supposed to have come off an old Beverly Seagrave truck. I have several casting numbers--all on the clapper or the nut on the top of the bell. On the nut it has N971, on the swivel part with the threaded end it has U802 and on the shaft of the clapper it has U1251..trying to find out if any of these denote the year (U1251--1951?). We did have a 1950 ladder serial number F-965. Is there any way of finding out what year this bell was made--I could not find an archivist on the Seagrave website. | An early firemans tool was recently purchased and I am seeking information on the name and value of tool. It is a firemans pole 6 feet long with 2 iron hooks set 180 degrees to each other-obviously for removing shingles, siding, etc. They are attached to the pole with an iron collar and hand rivets. I would speculate the iron is hand forged. The one hook has a stamping on it - 'JGB Staatsburgh'. I believe NY follows Staatsburgh. It is well used and charred at the end of the pole where the hooks are attached. Speculation from construction is that this pole is early 1900's. I have located the tender, but I can't get in touch with anyone one knows about the pumper. It should be parked at Mr. Jimmie Dobson's moving company yard in Bay City, Michigan. The caretaker of the vehicle should be Mr. Mike Adams of Burt, Michigan. I would like to get in contact with someone around the Super Pumper, and hope to find some nice pictures of the pumper in its present condition. | I would greatly appreciate your assistance retrieving my chrome plated parts.
Recently I had to face a very tragic reality with a local chrome plating company. During the course of several years, I had numerous parts from my 1941 Autocar, X-Philadelphia pumper chrome plated at B & B Metal Finishing and Polishing in York, PA. Although a struggle at times to have parts delivered on time, they did a good job with quality and are reasonably priced. They were down to the last parts when I called to ask when the balance of my parts would be finished. I was informed it would
be 2 weeks until completion. They informed me many times that my parts would be completed in a 2 week time, only to wait months for the parts. I drove to York about a month after this call to pick up the parts. When I arrived and asked for my parts, they informed me they sold my parts to some local fire truck collectors without my permission. They would not divulge the names of
these collectors, although I know of 2 local collectors and restorers that used this company.
I'm trying to locate these parts and fulfill my dream of watching this beautiful unique fire truck restored. Some of the parts sold included both front bumper bars, pump gauge bleeder valve knobs, 6 small acorn nuts and valve handles, pump transfer lever and street and drivers side pump panels for a Hale pump, round metal saucer for top of booster reel basket and 6 large acorn nuts, and 2- fire extinguisher holders that look like tall coffee cans. Some of the parts were hand made for this truck by the Autocar Truck Co. and cannot be replaced.I plead with you, if you bought my parts during January 2002 through December 2002 from B and B Metal Finishing and Polishing or owner Jim Glatfelter or his partner, please call me at 717-528-4524 or email kb1951@pa.net Thank you 3005t 01.07.03 |

| Information Needed: We have an Antique Auction House here in Connecticut and have come across a complete 1929 (or maybe 28) REO Speedwagon Fire Truck. (Truck has many accessories, body is in very good condition and engine is complete) The problem is that the truck has some how made its way across the ocean to England. It has been inside a warehouse for the last 20yrs. We make frequent trips overseas and are undecided as to whether the truck is valuable enough to add to one of our contianers of Antiques. Are there enough collectors for a piece like this and if so in what ballpark are we speaking? (for instance hundreds, thousands? or 10's of thousands) I am not looking for a exact value just a rough idea so we can make an educated decision as to whether is
worth bringing in for our upcoming Vintage Tranportation Auction. Thanks in advance. Christina Christina's Auction Gallery

| 1916 American LaFrance Type 12 equipped with a Pederson Oiling System has me stumped. The three site glasses on the dash have screw adjustments to regulate the delivery of the oil to the distribution lines. But what is the correct or appropriate rate of delivery of oil at an idle? I'm certain that I am delivering it faster than necessary now and this causes the rig to burn oil like crazy shortly after it is drained off at the petcocks. | Hi, my name is Mark Renton. I am from Hose 5 Freeport Fire Department. I am restoring and repairing an Eastman deck gun that was originally on our 1927 and 1947 Macks. In the late 1960s, it was broken at a fire. The pointer and the locking mechanism for the barrel were broken and lost over the years. I am looking for any information, parts and/or literature about this. The deck gun has 5 inch piping and has three 2-1/2" inlets with a gate. When stored on the truck, it sits in a cradle that locks it down for operation on the truck. When it is taken off to be used in the field, it has arms that extend out from the sides. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated. Email me at chevyoren@aol.com or call 516-378-9875. Thanks. 1048t 08.12.01 |
